I. LÝ THUYẾT: 
GRAMMAR: 
1/ -ed and –ing participles: 
Có 2 loại phân từ: hiện tại phân từ (present participle) và quá khứ phân từ (past 
participle) 
a/ Present participle (Hiện tại phân từ): V-ing 
- Làm tính từ, diễn tả người hoặc vật gây ra cảm giác (mô tả đặc điểm của người 
hoặc vật) 
e.g.: He’s a very boring man. (Anh ta là 1 người rất tẻ nhạt.) 
 The lesson was really interesting. ( Bài học rất thú vị.) 
- Thay cho mệnh đề quan hệ khi động từ trong mệnh đề quan hệ ở thể chủ động 
(active). 
e.g.: The girl is Lisa. The girl is talking to Nancy. 
 The girl who is talking to Nancy is Lisa. 
 The girl talking to Nancy is Lisa. (Cô gái đang nói chuyện với Nancy là Lisa.) 
b/ Past participle (Quá khứ phân từ): V-ed/ V3 
- Làm tính từ, diễn tả cảm giác của người nào đó. 
e.g.: I’m interested in modern music. (Tôi thích nhạc hiện đại.) 
- Thay cho mệnh đề quan hệ khi động từ trong mệnh đề quan hệ ở thể bị động 
(passive). 
e.g.: The toys are cheap. The toys were made in China. 
 The toys which were made in China are cheap. 
 The toys made in China are cheap. (Đồ chơi được sản xuất tại Trung Quốc thì 
rẻ.) 
2/ Requests with: - Would/ Do you mind if ? (Bạn có phiền nếu?) 
 - Would/ Do you mind + V-ing? (Bạn có phiền?) - The boy standing next to Miss Lien is Nam. 
- The girl standing by the table is Lan. 
- The girl playing cards are Nga on the left and Hoa on the right. 
2. Look at this stall. Describe the goods for sale. Use the past participles of the 
verbs in the box. 
(Em hãy nhìn quầy hàng và mô tả hàng hóa được bày bán. Sử dụng quá khứ phân 
từ của động từ trong khung.) 
 The old lamp in China is five dollars. 
Answers: 
- The green painted box is one dollar. 
- The truck made from recycled aluminum cans is two dollars. 
- The doll dressed in red is two dollars. 
- The flowers wrapped in blue paper is one dollar. 
- The toy kept in a cardboard box are ten dollars. 
3. Work with a partner. Use these words to make and respond to requests. A check 
(√) means agree to the request a cross (X) means do not agree to the request. 
Answers: 
a) Request: Do you mind if I sit down? 
Response: Please do. 
b) Request: Would you mind if I smoked? 
Response: I'd prefer you didn't. 
c) Request: Do you mind if I postpone our meeting? 
Response: Not at all. 
d) Request: Do you mind if turn off the stereo? 
Response: I'd rather you didn't. 
e) Request: Would you mind if I turned on the air conditioner? 
Response: Please do. 
f) Request: Do you mind if I eat lunch while watching TV? 
Response: No, of course not.
