 1. Connectives: and, but, because , or , so, therefore, however 
 A. Conjunction: liên từ: and, or, but, because, so 
 B. Adverb: trạng từ: therefore, however 
 a. and: và: dùng để nối 2 từ, 2 cụm từ, 2 câu cùng loại. 
 - We like listening to music and watching TV. ( chúng tôi thích nghe nhạc và xem ti 
 vi ) 
 - I like seafood and Coke. 
 b. but: nhưng: dùng để nối 2 ý tương phản nhau 
 - He is poor but he studies well. ( Anh ấy nghèo nhưng anh ấy học giỏi ) 
 - He was too tired but very happy. 
 However: tuy nhiên: dùng tương tự như “but”. Trước “however” là dấu “ ; ”, “ .” 
 - It was cold. However, he still went swimming. ( Trời thì lạnh tuy nhiên anh ấy vẫn 
 đi bơi ) 
 - I like playing badminton; however, I have to do my homework. 
 c. because: dùng để đưa ra lý do của sự việc hay hành động nào đó. 
 - He doesn’t go to school because he is sick. ( anh ấy ko đi học bởi vì anh ấy bị bệnh ) 
 - She is hungry because she didn’t have breakfast. 
 d. or: hoặc: dùng để đưa ra sự lựa chọn. 
 - Is your sister or your brother a doctor? ( chị gái của bạn là 1 bác sĩ hay anh trai của 
 bạn? ) 
 Do you want to watch TV or listen to music in your free time? 
 e. so: vì vậy, cho nên, dùng để nêu lên kết quả, trước so là dấu phẩy 
 - Hoa got good marks, so her parents were very happy. ( Hoa có điểm số cao, vì vậy ba 
 mẹ của cô ấy rất vui. ) 
 Therefore: vì vậy, cho nên; trước therefore là dấu chấm, sau therefore là dấu 
 phẩy 
 -She is tired. Therefore , she has to do this work. ( Cố ấy mệt. 
 a. Nam didn’t study. Therefore, he failed the exams. 
 b. The stores are closed. Therefore, I can’t buy any. c. “I think I’ve lost my new pen. I’ve looked for it everywhere but I can’t 
 find it anywhere.”

 3. Make suggestions: suggest + Verb-ing, suggest ( that ) + S + should 
 Khi muốn đề nghị, đề xuất ý kiến với ai đó ta dùng cấu trúc câu suggest 
 1. suggest + V-ing 
Ex: I suggest eating out tonight. 
 He suggested using tree leaves to wrap food. 
 2. suggest + that + S + should V .. 
Ex: They suggested that I should lose some weight. 
 Her doctor suggested that she should reduce her working hours and take more exercise.
